Energy Significance

The US gulf oil disaster has prompted President Obama to clearly state the US commitment to developing renewable energy sources urgently so as to reduce reliance on fossil fuels.

Equally important is reducing electricity consumption.

"About two thirds of the juice (electricity) used by American industry, for example, drives the countless electric motors running pumps, compressors, fans, conveyers and other devices in factories and plants nationwide, according to U.S. Department of Energy". Scientific American, December, 2007.

Cost of Electricity in pumps annually USA only.

149 x 10,000,000,000 Kwh/year  is consumed by pump sytems (27% of all manufacturing sector motor system energy) and that figure was in 1994!  according to U.S. Department of Energy".
